WWT Slimbridge, Gloucestershire
Friday February 16th 2018
This year the white-fronted geese at Slimbridge were particularly co-operative with a flock of a hundred or so visible from the first hide along the Holden Trail.
The same hide also produced excellent views of Bewick's swans, seen here alongside good numbers of wigeon and pintail.
Whilst not a very suitable subject for a video, this buzzard perched just in front of the hide did make for a very nice photo.
More wigeon were seen from the Zeiss hide, this time feeding with greylag geese.
Huge numbers of lapwings and golden plovers were here as well.
Walking along the canal later in the afternoon I saw six common cranes feeding in front of the hide. They were far too distant to photograph from where I was stood, so here is a clip I made from the same hide a few years ago.
